Body

Shattered heart
bones lie askew like poker players
who had lost that tournament

Journalists argue for political takeovers
but leave the country first, their job done
and people confined to dark rooms
jostle for space in the bed

The turning over of pages of sleep
dreams that infect your nerves as they
tingle and pierce, drawing out sensation
from the breath of a storm

the night your brother said fatal things
and the sea that claimed its due

The wash of water over your feet
give you the energy to start another day,
say another prayer to the mother of all things
hope against hope that all will be well

When you know what its all made from
it must be hard to listen to the irrational
to accept any destruction of habit
to watch as the vessel passes under the bridge

I like poetry a lot. This poem was very expressive and touching. I would love it if you visit my page.
